President Asif Ali Zardari is scheduled to undertake an official visit to the United Arab Emirates from January 26 to January 29, 2026, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UAE.

The president will lead a high-level delegation and is expected to hold meetings with senior UAE leadership to discuss key areas of cooperation, including trade, investment, defence, security, and regional developments.

Focus on Trade and Economic Cooperation

Officials familiar with the visit said economic cooperation will be a central focus of discussions, particularly in light of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to attract foreign investment and expand trade partnerships.

The UAE remains one of Pakistan’s largest trading partners in the Gulf region and is home to a large Pakistani expatriate community that contributes significantly to remittances. Talks are expected to explore new opportunities for collaboration in energy, infrastructure, and financial sectors.

Regional and Strategic Engagement

In addition to economic matters, the visit is expected to cover regional security issues and evolving geopolitical developments. Both sides are likely to exchange views on regional stability and ways to enhance coordination on shared security concerns.

The trip follows recent high-level exchanges between Islamabad and Abu Dhabi, reflecting a renewed push to deepen strategic and diplomatic engagement between the two countries.

Strengthening Long-Standing Relations

Pakistan and the UAE share long-standing diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. Over the years, the relationship has expanded beyond traditional cooperation to include defence collaboration and people-to-people exchanges.

Officials say the upcoming visit is part of broader efforts to reinforce mutual trust and strengthen partnerships that support economic growth and regional stability.

Significance of the Visit

Analysts view the visit as an important step in sustaining momentum in Pakistan-UAE relations at a time when Pakistan is seeking stronger international economic partnerships.

The outcomes of the meetings are expected to shape future cooperation frameworks and contribute to closer coordination between the two countries across multiple sectors.
