The India national cricket team secured a dominant 96-run victory over the New Zealand national cricket team in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, lifting the trophy after a commanding performance with both bat and ball.

After posting a massive 255/5 in 20 overs, India’s bowlers dismantled New Zealand’s batting lineup, bowling them out for 159 in 19 overs to seal one of the most one-sided finals in the tournament’s history.

The victory marked India’s third T20 World Cup title, further strengthening their dominance in international T20 cricket.

Samson Leads India’s Record-Breaking Batting

India’s innings was powered by a remarkable performance from Sanju Samson, who scored 89 runs off 46 balls and anchored the team’s explosive batting display.

He was supported by Ishan Kishan, who smashed 54 off 25 balls, while Abhishek Sharma contributed a rapid 52 from 21 deliveries.

The aggressive start allowed India to maintain a high run rate throughout the innings, eventually recording the highest total ever in a T20 World Cup final.

Despite a brief slowdown caused by a three-wicket over from James Neesham, India comfortably crossed the 250 mark and set New Zealand a daunting target of 256 runs.

Bumrah and Axar Lead Bowling Dominance

India’s bowling attack ensured that New Zealand never recovered during the chase.

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah delivered a match-winning spell, finishing with 4 wickets for 15 runs, earning him the Player of the Match award.Spinner Axar Patel also played a key role with 3 wickets for 27 runs, putting further pressure on New Zealand’s batting lineup.

New Zealand’s chase was disrupted early as they lost key wickets in the powerplay and struggled to keep up with the required run rate.

New Zealand Fall Short in the Chase

Despite a fighting 52 from Tim Seifert and 43 from Mitchell Santner, New Zealand failed to build meaningful partnerships.

The team collapsed under scoreboard pressure and was eventually bowled out for 159, falling well short of the target.

India’s bowlers maintained tight lines and regularly took wickets, preventing New Zealand from mounting any serious comeback.

Historic Title for India

With the victory, India successfully defended their T20 World Cup crown and became the first team to win the tournament three times.

The triumph also marked a significant moment for the team, coming at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where thousands of fans witnessed the historic win.

India’s dominant performance throughout the tournament, combined with their commanding display in the final, underlined their strength in the shortest format of the game.
